The role model is enforced independently in middleware, layout guards, and API routes so there is no single bypass point.
Two-pane conversations include a conversation list, active chat, live per-conversation unread badges, read receipts, file attachments, and cross-tab updates without polling.
Cloudinary private storage, magic-byte validation, and 15-minute signed URLs keep client files off public links.
Case updates and messages deliver in real time with per-item and bulk mark-as-read, live unread badges, and sidebar counts for messages, notifications, and action-required cases.
Admins create advisor accounts, assign cases, view workload, reset passwords, and suspend or reactivate accounts.

The problem
The consultancy needed to move case intake, advisor assignment, document exchange, client communication, Calendly booking, payments, and internal team management out of scattered email and manual workflows.
What we built
We built a three-role portal for clients, advisors, and admins with case management, secure documents, WhatsApp-style realtime chat, notifications, Calendly booking, payment support, advisor management, and layered route/API access control.
The outcome
Clients, advisors, and admins now work from one secure portal, with live messages, documents, notifications, and case state visible only to the right role.
Technical note
Real-time chat uses Supabase Realtime through a security bridge: the session stays in an HTTP-only cookie while the browser receives a short-lived token for WebSocket access.
